In Icarus, players need to gather resources, craft materials, equipment and tools, build shelters, and hunt for food in order to survive against harsh environments that the online survival game will give to them.
Aside from that, they will also need to clear a series of Prospect Missions, where they need to clear a series of tasks while exploring different biomes in order to reward themselves with in-game money and experience to unlock tiers in the tech and talent trees.
One of which is the "Deep Vein: Extraction" Prospect Mission, where they need to explore the Arctic biome for the location to mine an Exotic deposit resource.
They can also rerun the said mission in order for themselves to earn more in-game money, as well as amounts of the said resource, which they can use to buy unique items in the Orbital Workshop.
Preparations
Much like the other missions in Icarus, before starting the "Deep Vein: Extraction," players need to craft several tools that they will need to use while venturing not only in the Arctic biome, but also in the Forest biome.
According to eip.gg, they need to craft the tools needed for hunting wild animals for Meat and Leather such as a bow with its arrows and a knife. They will also need to craft items that they will use for gathering resources such as the axe and pickaxe, which it can be helpful in gathering the Exotic deposit resource.
If they unlocked higher Tiers in the said in-game tech tree, they can also craft the same tools with better materials such as metals like Steel.
They will also need to craft the Cloth armor for additional defense, as well as a wood rag torch for lighting in care they are taking the mission during the night time, and waterskins to store water, especially after melting the Ice that they will collect in the Arctic biome at a campfire.
Finally, they will need to craft wooden building pieces for their temporary shelter, as well as a bedroll that will serve as their spawn point after setting it up inside the said shelter.
Once they have prepared the tools and items needed, they can now jump in to the dropship to start the Prospect Mission.
Clearing the 'Deep Vein: Extraction'
At the start of the Prospect Mission, the dropship will land in the area within the point L12. Once there, they will need to travel towards the point O12.
While travelling towards the said point, they will hunt down the wild animals that are trying to attack them for Meat and Leather. They will also encounter several items needed such as Oxites that they can use to replenish oxygen, and Berries that will act as their "instant food."
After travelling for several kilometers, they will build their temporary shelter and set up their bedroll inside, while creating a campfire outside to cook their Meat. Once they rested enough, they will continue on their journey towards the area within O12.
Once they reach the said point, according to PC Invasion, they will continue to travel south until they will encounter a frozen ravine. Before heading further, they will need to build a second temporary shelter and place a bedroll inside of it to make it their spawn point.
After resting for a few minutes, they will go northeast through the ravine until they will reach the marker that will indicate where they need to go for this Prospect Mission, which is within the points O13 and P13. From there, they will see a cave, where they need to enter.
As they entering the said cave, they will encounter cave worms that they need to defeat in order to get pass through them. They can block their poisonous spit by building wooden walls, while sniping them using the bow and arrow.
After killing said cave worms, they will mine the Exotic deposits there using a pickaxe. Once they got the said deposit, they will run towards the dropship to store it, clearing the Prospect Mission.
They can also mine the Exotic deposits in several locations in the area such as at the bottom of a crevasse, which is in the southeastern part of the area within O13, in a pit in the northeastern part of the area within O14, and one next to a small hill in the norther edge of the area within O14.
