Xbox Series X prices are still pretty high even if almost every piece of gaming hardware has come down (specifically NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards). But maybe this is your best chance to get one, and it's courtesy of Microsoft themselves.

WindowsCentral reports that Microsoft has introduced a program selling "certified refurbished" Xbox Series X consoles at a far lower price than they would go on the open market. As per the report, these "certified refurbished" consoles come directly from Microsoft. One can assume that technicians look at a used Series X and make sure it still works A-okay. Then, they pack it back up and put it on sale at a discounted price.
The Xbox Series X price via the program starts at an MSRP of $549.97, according to the official Xbox website. Sure, this is beyond the original stated MSRP of $499, but it's still way less than you would pay if you bought a console off local markets or eBay.
According to Xbox, the refurbishment process involves rigorous testing to ensure that the unit works properly. Aside from that, it is also checked for the quality of its hardware and its looks, meaning the second-hand console will look and perform like new.
Buyers can also choose to add accessories to their purchase bundle. For one, they have access to custom controllers courtesy of Xbox Design Lab and an official Play & Charge kit, and a wireless headset.
Microsoft also offers an optional Microsoft Complete extended warranty ($49)if you want some extra peace of mind with your purchase. This can be bought on top of the included 12-month warranty, as per the original WindowsCentral report. The warranty will cover accidental damage for up to three years for both the console and the included controller.

How Has The Xbox Series X's Price Fared So Far?
This writing has been around a year and a half since Microsoft launched its newest console. It was affected by sky-high price gouging just like the PS5, and as of March 2022, street prices still haven't come down much.
A quick look at eBay, and you'll see the whole story. You still need to pay as much as $1,000 for a console if you're buying it there-likely from a scalper. Even the cheapest listings are still north of $600-$700, and that's just not going to fly.

Prices are still high, but you won't believe that they've already come down ever since the New Year. According to GamingIntel, one of the biggest reasons peak prices for the Xbox Series X this year have dropped is that scalpers are "struggling" to sell their inventory due to an increase in supply and a drop in demand.
Anyone who still tries to coax buyers into paying thousands of dollars for a console will just be met with 0 bids on eBay after the timers expire.
