Gaming Luminary and Co-Creator of Halo, Takes Leave from EA and Gaming

Renowned game director Marcus Lehto, famed for co-creating Halo and recently serving as the director of Battlefield Narrative at Electronic Arts (EA), has officially confirmed his departure from the gaming giant. Lehto took to X to express his gratitude to the Battlefield community and shed light on his decision to step away from EA, citing it as a "very tough decision."

Co-Creator of Halo Bids Farewell to EA

Lehto clarified, "I want to thank the Battlefield community for allowing me to listen to you while I was able. Your feedback will help make Battlefield stronger. I wish the teams at EA all the best moving forward." Despite the departure, Lehto affirmed that it was his personal choice to leave the company.

In an additional post, Lehto disclosed that he would be taking a hiatus from the gaming industry. This announcement comes amid the ongoing development of Battlefield 2042, the latest installment in the popular franchise.

EA Officially Confirms Marcus Lehto's Departure

An official statement from EA, as reported by IGN, confirmed Lehto's departure, stating, "Marcus Lehto has made the personal decision to step down as the Director of Battlefield Narrative. The work on Battlefield 2042 and our upcoming, unannounced Battlefield Universe continues."

Lehto, recognized for his pivotal role in creating Microsoft's flagship franchise, Halo, has had a diverse career in the gaming industry. In 2014, he founded V1 Interactive, a game studio that revealed the original sci-fi FPS Disintegration. Unfortunately, the project faced a disappointing launch, leading to the closure of V1 Interactive in 2021.
