Fallout: London Mod Release Postponed Due to Fallout 4 Next-Gen Upgrade

The highly anticipated release of Fallout: London, a DLC-sized mod for Fallout 4, has been postponed due to the impending arrival of the game's next-gen upgrade. Impact of Next-Gen Update

Dean Carter, addressing the community in an update video, acknowledged the significance of the next-gen update for Fallout 4. He expressed excitement about the potential engine improvements and performance upgrades, highlighting the opportunity to enhance the mod's quality and gameplay experience.

However, he emphasized the challenges posed by integrating the mod with the new update, cautioning against rushing the process to avoid breaking the mod's core systems.

Logistical Challenges and Uncertainty

In addition to technical considerations, logistical challenges have further complicated the mod's release. With a substantial file size of 30-40GB, hosting the mod on platforms like Nexus Mods presents limitations. However, Carter revealed that GOG has offered a potential solution to make the mod accessible to players across multiple platforms, including Steam and potentially Epic Games.

Uncertainty Surrounding Release Date

Despite the setback, Carter remained optimistic about resolving the issues promptly. However, due to the uncertainties regarding the impact of the next-gen update, he refrained from providing a specific replacement date for the mod's release. While acknowledging the possibility of a quick fix, he cautioned that a delay of up to a month might be necessary to ensure a smooth launch.

Meanwhile, Fallout 4 has experienced a resurgence in popularity on Steam, with concurrent player numbers doubling following the release of Amazon Prime's Fallout TV series. Despite being nearly a decade old, Fallout 4 continues to attract a significant player base, maintaining its position among Steam's top 20 games by concurrent numbers.
