Ascension Expansion Rise Of Vigil Released On iOS Platforms; Standalone Expansion Introduces New Cards, Mechanics; Android Support Coming

Rise And Shine: New Ascension Expansion Rise Of Vigil Hits iOS Platforms

The iOS's premier deckbuilding game, Ascension, has just released its fourth full stand-alone expansion set, Rise Of Vigil.

Solforge Community Deck Reivew: Wyvern's Wrath

The following paragraph may sound like gibberish. The new expansion introduces two new mechanics which are sure to reinvigorate the game: treasure and energize. Treasure are new cards that don't appear in the center row, but rather underneath the cards in the row. They can be acquired by defeating monsters or gaining cards, and they do not count towards your hand size. Instead, when you play a treasure card, which is currently limited to just the Energy Shard, your Energy pool is filled up. And that's where the fun begins.

The second mechanic, Energize, is featured on most of the new cards and it uses your energy pool to play secondary effects and procs. So, if you defeat the Herald of Doom, you can acquire or defeat any card in the center row without paying. But, if you have 7 or more energy in your pool, you acquire and defeat them all. It adds a new layer to the strategies players utilize: sure, I can play or defeat this card now, but I could also wait and try for a time when I have the energy.

Curse of Naxxramas Final Card List Revealed

Then entire set contains 46 new cards split amongst the four factions and monsters, plus new art for the Militia, Apprentice, Heavy Infantry and Mystic common cards. It also features the highest cost card in the game, yes, even higher than Adayu. This is Oziah, Judge of Logos, one of the game's enduring characters. He's part of the Enlightened faction, costs 9 and will defeat all monsters in the center row without paying their costs.

The expansion retails for $3.99 and is available only on iOS platforms. Android support is coming later this summer.

Stone Blade Entertainment has put out two of the finest digital card games for smart devices. You've played SolForge, there's no better time to try out Ascension than now.
