Bafta 2012: Portal 2 Wins Best Game of the Year

Its official! Portal 2 wins best game of the year at that 2012 Bafta video game awards ceremony. 

Not only did Portal 2 scoop up Best Game of the year, it added two more awards to the evening with Best Story and Best Design.  Published by Electronic Arts, the game company's other title Battlefield 3, won Best Audio Achievement, Best Online Multiplayer, and The Game Award. 

Winner for best Action Game of the year went to Batman: Arkham Asylum and voice actor Mark Hamill won Performer of the year with his portrayal of the Joker.  The Debut Game of the Year belonged to the Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet with Kinect Sports 2 taking  the Spot for Sports and Fitness. 

Other notables included a special award to the creator of Minecraft Marku Persson and Rayman Origins for Artistic Achievement. 

Surprises of the evening included the award for Handheld Game of the Year, Peggel, and the epic RPG Skyrim, who walked away with no wins.  Skyrim entered the evening with five nominations but ended up empty handed after winning game of the year in other various competitions.
