'Game of Thrones: Behind the Wall' Trailer Brings the Heat, and Ice

Developers Cyanide studio has revealed the trailer of the role playing game, "Game of Thrones: Behind the Wall". The game is an adaptation from George R.R. Martin fantasy series, A Song of Ice and Fire.

In the video, the developers take fans through the game explaining how the it developed through the seven years while working with the author George Martin.

"The universe of a song of ice and fire is a real treat as it offers an unlimited source of inspiration to make a great RPG. We started contacting George Martin seven years ago and  to adapt his universe to create a role playing game," said Sylvian Sechi, Lead Game Designer of Game of Thrones: Behind the Wall of Cyanide studio.

"When we started working on the game, the TV series was only a rumor. So we created our own environments and our own characters but always with a total respect for the universe of George Martin," added Sechi.

The game involves the two original characters Mors, sworn brother of the Night's Watch, and Alester the Red Priest who is in search of redemption and is back from Westeros after a long exile. The game comes with 30 hours of gameplay filled with story, sword duels, and epic battles.

"The challenge was to create characters who fit the universe of A song of Ice and Fire as we wanted them to be anchored in the existing world. It was really important they had their friends, enemies, their own family, their own story and past," said Thomas Veauclin, Project Director of Game of Thrones: Behind the Wall.

"As they are two original heroes, the player will leave a brand new plot and will have choices to make. It is really important for the player to feel he is the master of the destiny of his characters. It is more exciting than following the story of a famous character you know by heart. So choices of the player have dramatic consequences of the adventure," adds Veauclin.

The game is developed on Unreal Engine 3 as it offers players an extraordinary visual display within the recreation of the medieval fantasy universe. Players get to choose the class of their characters, fighting style, and balance them between the players' strengths and weaknesses for epic battles.

The game will be released on 15 May in North America for  Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC and the first week of June in Europe.
