Smite MOBA Update Details: Mayan Goddess Awilix Will Be Added While Nox, Ao Kuang Get Balanced

Smite Is Adding A New Goddess And Rebalancing Two Others In Its Next Patch

Smite's next update is quickly approaching, and while the patch will take care of a few miscellaneous bugs, the majority of changes are in the game's roster. One new player is being added to the fray while two others are receiving some serious balance changes.

Get The Full Details About The Upcoming Goddess Awilix

As developer Hi-Rez revealed last week, the Mayan goddess of the moon Awilix is the next fighter being introduced into Smite. As an assassin, Awilix's kit is based on giving her plenty of speed and mobility while giving her the ability to stop her opponents from running away from a confrontation. With the help of her jaguar mount, Awilix can make the jungle a dangerous place for an enemy god.

Smite's two most recent god additions are getting plenty of attention in this patch, as well. The rebooted Ao Kuang, the most recently added god, was proving too powerful in terms of burst damage. This update takes some of that damage away from his Dragon Call ability when it's used as a projectile – almost halving its power at maximum level – so Ao Kuang will have to get up close and personal if he wants to deal the most damage. It's not all bad news for Ao Kuang fans, though. The god's passive ability is being updated so that, if a player is using his stored energy to cast an ability without mana, the ability will only use one charge to both cast the ability and give it a damage boost.

Nox, on the other hand, is receiving quite the buff in this upcoming patch. First, her passive ability is being reimagined so that it gives her more long-term sustain. Each ability she casts will light a candle in her store, and each lit candle will grant Nox 4 percent damage mitigation. Taking damage from an enemy god, however, will cause one candle to be blown out.

With the upcoming patch, Nox's shield ability will become more powerful, on a shorter cooldown and last for twice as long. Though her two damaging abilities will lose a bit of base damage, their secondary effects will be improved. The silence caused by Nightfall Raven will be lengthened, and Siphon Darkness will be cheaper to cast. Finally, Nox's ultimate ability will no longer be limited by a tether distance, and enemies hit will not be able to escape just by running far enough away. Further, on the ability's conclusion, the target will be stunned for one second and take damage.

A handful of other gods are being rebalanced as well, though not to the extent of the previous two. Serqet, Vamana and Vulcan are all taking a bit of a nerf, while Osiris will enjoy a little bit of a buff once the patch rolls out.
