'Project CARS' Delayed For The Third Time: Release Date Pushed Back To May

Once Again 'Project CARS' Has Been Delayed: Next-Gen Racer Pushed Back To May

Another week, another Project CARS delay announcement.

Six Wii U Games On Club Nintendo You Need To Own Before It's Too Late

This marks the third delay in the (now slightly less) anticipated racing title from Bandai Namco and Slightly Mad Studios. The next gen game was originally scheduled to hit systems on November 18 of last year, and was then pushed back to March 20, at which point it was then delayed until April 2. The latest in the long line of push-backs has the game releasing in mid-May. No specific date has been given.

All the better to not miss the date when and if they are unable to hit that mark, too.

"Despite our long heritage and pedigree in making critically-acclaimed racing games, Project CARS is by far the grandest and most intricately detailed of them all. Despite therefore the game being 99.9% complete, the remaining 0.1% attending to small issues and bugs has been tricky to anticipate. We're absolutely dedicated to delivering a ground-breaking experience and by targeting mid-May fans can be assured that's what they'll receive" said Ian Bell, Head of Studio at Slightly Mad Studios.

"Again, we want to thank our fans for their support and patience on this matter. There's a high expectancy from racing fans around the world that Project CARS is going to be an exciting new contender in the simulation racing space and we firmly believe gamers deserve it to be in its most complete and polished state when they come to play it on day one."

Acknowledging the community's patience, Bell also noted that Slightly Mad will reveal some new Day One content as their way of saying thanks. Details to arrive shortly.

I am in the camp of 'give me a delayed, but finished' game - day one updates and broken launches are sooo November 2014 - but there are limits. And those limits are being tested.

Still, patience in all things. We'll let you know if - IF - Project CARS is ever delayed again. Let's not right it off just yet. But let's at least have the pen ready.
