'Ghost In The Shell Online' New F2P Shooter Releases In North America On PC This Year [VIDEO]

Nexon Announces North American Release For F2P Shooter 'Ghost In The Shell Online' Later This Year

Prolific Korean games company Nexon is bringing its F2P first person shooter, Ghost in the Shell Online to Western shores at an undisclosed later date this year.

The game will launch in Korea at an earlier date and will be based around the more action oriented Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex manga and anime, following the elite police unit of Section 9.

Nexon is making a play in the west, having released Dirty Bomb last week on Steam and also the very fun, albeit formulaic, DomiNations onto mobile platforms recently. Here at the office, we can't stop playing the very Clash of Clans-esque title.

So, expect Ghost in the Shell Online to feature lots of addictive gameplay, coupled with some frustrating timelocks and other IAP shenanigans. Players can upgrade their own cyborg, buy weapons, support robots and improved skills and, in what is really great, you can share these abilities with your team-mates. So balance and training are key; roll with the same guys and you can have every ability covered.

Oh, and it's violent. Very, very violent. So violent, in fact, that last year's trailer has lots of 18+ smiley faces over the dead bodies. Ghost in the Shell struck me as a more intellectual sci-fi series with some great action beats, so the level of gore on display kind of threw me off.

Check it out below and stay tuned for more details. An official release date for all territories should be coming soon.
