'The Wolverine' Movie, Official Plot Revealed

"The Wolverine" series will be heading in a new direction with Hugh Jackman and 20th Century Fox taking the movie away from the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

Fox released an official synopsis of "The Wolverine." The story takes place in Japan and it is rare that Americans get to see a superhero movie taking place in Japan. Though films "Babel," "Memoirs of a Geisha," and "The Last Samurai" were based in Japan. The lead of the film, Jackman said the movie will not be overloaded by mutants. Though the plot does not give out major details on the film, it will be interesting to know how Wolverine who has "lost his memory" will connect to the events in the film and what will connect him back to X-Men.

The synopsis says, "Based on the celebrated comic book arc, 'The Wolverine' finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed."

The film also stars Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Svetlana Khodchenkova, and Rila Fukushima. The film is based on the comic book by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.

The film is directed by James Mangold ("Walk the Line," "Kate & Leopold"). The script is written by Mark Bomback ("Total Recall"). Mangold tweeted, "movies I think about as I make #TheWolverine: Eastwood's Josie Wales, Powell's Back Narcissus, Hitchcock's Rear Window, Marnie, Vertigo" and "Today I am starting an intense set piece of action and drama at the Yashida Compound set. Logan, Yukio and Shingen."

It's been two weeks since they started shooting. In the tweet he promised that, "Amazing images are being made."
