‘Lincoln’ Movie: First Poster Unveiled (Check it Out)

Dreamwork Studios released the first theatrical posters for Daniel Day-Lewis starring as "Lincoln," directed by one of Hollywood's most acclaimed directors, Steven Spielberg.

This black and white poster is simple but powerful, giving the audience insight on just how striking Day-Lewis's metamorphosis into the 16th President of the U.S. really was.

The film gives an account of President Lincoln's last few months of his life, chronicling his changes to American and World history by abolishing slavery and his eventual assassination by John Wilkes Booth.

"Lincoln" is produced by Spielberg and Kathleen Kennedy. It took Tony Kushner six years to write the script. It will also star Sally Field, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, Walton Goggins, David Strathairn, David Oyelowo, Bruce McGill, Jared Harris, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace, and Tim Blake Nelson.

Originally, Liam Neeson was cast as Lincoln but he later dropped out saying he is "too old to play the former commander-in-chief." Day-Lewis who is a method actor took over the role and made it his own.

"He is very much deeply invested and immersed throughout the day when he's in character, but he's very accessible at the end of the day, " Producer Kennedy, told indedependent.ie during filming. "Once he can step outside of it and not feel that - I mean, he's given huge scenes with massive amounts of dialogue and he needs to stay in character, it's a very, very performance-driven movie."

Day-Lewis is known for giving stellar performances in films like "My Left Foot," "Gangs of New York" and "There Will Be Blood."

The movie is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's book "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln."

The film is slated to release in the U.S. on Nov. 9 and global release for Nov. 16.
