'Pokemon GO' Gen 2 Release Date, News & Update: 100 New Pokemon Expected; What You Need To Prepare

"Pokemon Go" fans are already looking forward to new creatures that will allegedly arrive in the game's Generation 2 update. So far, "Pokemon Go" Gen 1 featured 145 total Pokemon, out of the 151 in the Pokedex, including four region-exclusive creatures.

"Pokemon Go" Gen 2 was announced by Niantic at San Diego Comic Con 2016, where several new Pokemon were said to be included. The new creatures feature both completely new Pokemon, as well as new evolutions, so players are advised to start saving up on Candies and Stardust.

The Bitbag wrote that "Pokemon Go" Gen 2 will reportedly include Crobat, the ultimate evolution of Zubat. At present, Zubat can only evolve into Golbat, but the new transformation should require about 100 Candies. Onix can evolve into the third stage Steelix, which may also require 100 Candies. In the new "Pokemon Go" update, Chansey can evolve into Blissey, requiring about 100 Candies. Horsea can transform into Kingdra, while Scyther can evolve into Scizor, at only 50 Candies. Porygon can evolve into Porygon2, which will need 50 Candies. Generation 4 "Pokemon Go" will reportedly include Porygon-Z, which will require several Candies.

RankedBoost revealed that there will be chance evolution in "Pokemon Go" Gen 2. Poliwag generally turns into a Poliwhirl, but the new update will bring Politoed, which Poliwag may turn into by chance. Slowpoke can evolve into Slowbro in the current "Pokemon Go," but the Gen 2 update can turn it into Slowking instead. Eevee has the chance to turn into any of the five next-level Pokemon, namely Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Umbreon and Espeon. The latter two are the latest addition in its forms.

Oddish can evolve into Gloom and eventually, the new PokemonBellossom for 100 Candies. Gloom generally turns into the grass/poison-type Vileplum, but the new "Pokemon Go" update provides trainers the choice of turning it into Bellossom instead. It is still uncertain whether all the new evolutions can be done by Candies alone, or if there will be new mechanisms introduced.

"Pokemon Go" Gen 2 is the next update, although Niantic has not yet provided a specific release date. There are rumors that it will become available early in 2017.
