Minecraft For iOS, Raspberry Pi Announced

Mojang has announced that they would be bringing Minecraft for the miniature computer Raspberry Pi and Minecraft reality for iOS.

A new Minecraft app, Minecraft Reality for iOS has been announced by Mojang Nov. 25 letting users place creation in real world settings. It uses the AR technology that is developed by 13th Labs.

The app is available for download at the iTunes Store. The app "tracks the surrounding environment with the camera of an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, and lets users project Minecraft creations into that environment. The impressive 3D tracking feature allows you to move around with the camera and watch onscreen as the app makes the proper adjustments to show you different angles of the object, and allows you to scale the object's size to your heart's content," Examiner reported.

After placing the creation, users can share its location with others via GPS.

The application is available for $1.99 and does not work in iPod Touch 4G and earlier versions. It has limited functionality in iPhone 4S, as well.

Meanwhile Mojang announced that the miniature sized computer, Raspberry Pi will also be getting Minecraft.

This mini-computer provides a platform for users to acquire programming skills. The device costs around $35.

"The possibilities are massive. You could organise the cheapest LAN party of all time, or use the Pi to learn the fundamentals of programming on a miniscule budget. It's like hacking your way into Minecraft and modifying the game world with code, a bit like being Notch, Jeb, or Nathan, but arguably more fun and less stressful," said Owen on the Mojang website.

"You can start by building structures in the traditional Minecraft way, but once you've got to grips with the in-game features, there's opportunity to break open the code and use programming language to manipulate things in the game world. You'll be learning new skills through Minecraft."

Minecraft's release for Raspberry Pi will be free of cost.
