NBA Trade Rumors 2016: Cleveland Cavaliers Sending Iman Shumpert Back To New York Knicks? [POLL]

NBA Trade Rumors 2016: Cleveland Cavaliers Sending Iman Shumpert Back To New York Knicks?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are finding ways to re-sign J.R. Smith to the fold and dispatching Iman Shumpert could be the answer to all that. This is if the word out is true that the Cavs are seriously considering sending the 26-year-old guard to the same team that picked him up 17th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.

More than the DUI issue?

Iman Shumpert arrested last August for driving under the influence of marijuana, TMZ reported. He was initially pulled over in Atlanta for a lane change violation and not having the taillights of his rental on. Things went from bad to worse when the arresting officer detected a strong odor which was burnt marijuana.

Iman Shumpert did admit using marijuana and failed field sobriety tests. Officers on the scene even found more weed contained in a mason jar at the time.

The trouble is likely to cost Iman Shumpert such as fines and suspensions. However, the latest dish is that he may get more than that in the form of a trade.

Despite his off-court issues, multiple teams are still reportedly interested in Iman Shumpert. This includes the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers. But the team in the lead seems to be the Knicks.

Are the Cavs serious about the trade?

Right now the immediate cause is seen as the DUI charge on Iman Shumpert. But according to Larry Brown Sports, it may be more than that.

That includes concerns tied up to his racy part in a Kanye West music video and issues tied up this broken wrist last year. It is believed that the injury was a result of playing pickup basketball.

If the Cavs end up parting with Iman Shumpert, the long-awaited signing of Smith may finally be made official. Then again, the Cavs don’t need to trade Shumpert unless they have grounds to resort to it.
