An anonymous industry source intimated to the site that series developer Guerrilla is developing the title, which may be shown during Sony's upcoming PlayStation press confrence in New York on February 20th. The source believes that Killzone 4 will be alongside the console or soon after, but definitely before the end of 2013. The source did not disclose any information regarding the story or mechanics for the prospective sequel.

As Videogamer points out, Killzone games have been revealed at the launches of both the PS3 and PS Vita. Killzone 2, initially announced as PS3 launch title, was not released until 2009. Killzone: Mercenaries, the Vita title, is expected hit stores this fall. In addition to the next Killzone, Guerrilla Games is developing an unannounced new title.

Though it's generally wise to take unsubstaniated reports with a grain of salt, there have been other indicators that a new Killzone might be released this year. In a christmas message to Killzone fans, Guerilla community editor Victor Zuylen wrote on the developer's blog: "2013 is gearing up to be another big year for Guerrilla - quite possibly the biggest since we released the original Killzone way back in 2004." Putting out a headlining console launch title would definitely qualify as a big year for any developer, including Guerrilla.
