BlackBerry Mercury's 3GB RAM To Match-Up With Google Pixel & iPhone

BlackBerry Mercury's 3GB RAM To Match-Up With Google Pixel & iPhone

Blackberry seemed not to be wasting any time after it earlier announced it's set to launch a new model of its traditional keyboard smartphones within a six-month period, which will be known as the BlackBerry Mercury.

The rumored release of the Mercury was recently spotted at the Geekbench and can be identified in a model code BBB100-1. The announced model came after the last two models recently released by BlackBerry-the DTEK50 and PRIV.

Rumors have it that the new BlackBerry will feature a 3GB RAM, which can match up with the 4GB RAM of Google Pixel and iPhone 7's 2GB RAM. Feature wise, the BlackBerry Mercury can be an outstanding mid-range alternative smartphone, the Phone Arena reported.

Just like the DTEK50 and the PRIV, the BlackBerry Mercury will also run with Android operating system. But it wasn't really clear whether the new BB would run the Android 7.0 Nougat as what Phone Arena reported.

This is because some sources claim, including the GSM Arena, that a 4GB RAM is required to run the Android 7.0 Nougat OS. As of now, there are only two devices-Google Pixel and LG V20-that run the latest Android OS. But hopes are high that the BlackBerry Mercury would also run the same OS. But nonetheless, it is still considered by many as a perfect mid-range smartphone with robust feature.

Compared with the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus' memory capacity and RAM, the new BlackBerry smartphone is way ahead of the game for its price range. The BBB100-1 comes in a 32GB internal memory and powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor.

It's still unclear though whether the new BB device will also sport the trademark QWERTY keyboard that the Canadian brand has been known for. But with the phone's 4.5-inch display, it's highly likely that it will come with its trademark physical keyboard.
