‘The Winds of Winter' Release Date, News & Update: January 2017 Release Likely? Draft Reportedly In Proofreading Stage

In the past several months, fans have been clamoring for author George RR Martin to release the latest installment, titled "The Winds of Winter." There are rumors that the "The Winds of Winter" draft is already in the proofreading phase, and the official copy will launch in 2017.

Australia Network News revealed that the last book from the "A Song of Fire and Ice" series became available in 2011, titled "A Dance with Dragons." Book 6, or "The Winds of Winter," has been postponed several times.

Some fans speculate that Martin writes at a very slow pace, while others believe that the author is working on two projects at the same time. There are also talks that "The Winds of Winter" may become available at the same time as Book 7, or "A Dream of Spring."

Other rumors suggest that "The Winds of Winter" is already in its final stage of completion, and will become available in 2017. Considering how the "Game of Thrones" show on HBO is already preparing for Season 7, Martin may feature the next novel just before the TV series continues.

N4BB wrote that although some discussions hinted that "The Winds of Winter" may launch in January 2017, it is also possible that the new novel may arrive later in the year or in 2018. According to Martin, he is still hundreds of pages away from finishing "The Winds of Winter."

The novel is said to be the longest installment in the entire series. "The Winds of Winter" author assured fans that he is working on the story, although he asked for more patience. His involvement in other projects is also keeping him from focusing solely on "The Winds of Winter."

Furthermore, Martin's delay in writing "The Winds of Winter" may also affect the TV show. It was previously teased by the show producers that they already know how the story will end.

However, fans still wish for the author to feature his own version of the tale in "The Winds of Winter," most likely for comparison with the TV series. In the meantime, fans are eagerly waiting for the start of "Game of Thrones" season 7.
