'Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night' News & Updates: Designer Koji Igarashi Talks About Possible Sequel!

"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" is targeted for a 2018 release and that's still far away, but as early as now there's a clamor for a second game in the series before the first game is even out. Creator and designer Koji Igarashi discussed a potential sequel to the successful Kickstarter game in an interview in the Philippines.

It's interesting to note that there's already some buzz surrounding a sequel to "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night." However, Igarashi is still too committed to getting this game out in two years, as he promised, before he even considers starting work on a possible "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night 2." He says that he also has another idea for an original game, but he's a little scared to try it out in the event that people might not like it.

But why is "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" taking so long? For one thing, Igarashi is a bit of a perfectionist, and he claims in a Developer Update that the delay is because the game isn't meeting his standards so far, and he just wants to get it right. In an interview at this year's Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit with Philippine media outlet Rappler, Igarashi states that developing games while getting real-time feedback from fans via Kickstarter was all new to him. It's safe to say that there is pressure on them to deliver, especially when they have to keep giving constant updates about "Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" to the fans helping out on Kickstarter.

"Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night" is set to release sometime in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC and Mac. The game already racked up $5 million on Kickstarter when it was originally aiming for only $500,000. You can still pledge at least $5 to the project, and a minimum pledge of $28 will get you the digital copy of the game. A $60 pledge will get you a physical copy, while a maximum pledge of $10,000 gets you a special collector's edition with goodies, a free dinner and a chance to play games with Igarashi on a live stream.
