Disney is preparing to feature a new musical live action "Snow White" movie. The upcoming "Snow White" film is still in the planning stage, and will allegedly include new original songs.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that screenwriter Erin Cressida is currently in negotiations to write the script for the live-action "Snow White" movie. Wilson will allegedly expand the story and introduce more music from the original cartoon version, which released in 1937.
Wilson is well known for writing the adaptation of "The Girl on the Train." The new "Snow White" movie screenwriter also worked on "Men, Women & Children" and "Vinyl." She is represented by CAA, Art/Work Entertainment and Schreck Rose.
The new "Snow White" film will feature new songs, notes Variety. Songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul were reportedly also brought in to write the new music.
The two previously wrote the lyrics for the movie, "La La Land," and worked on "The Greatest Showman on Earth." Pasek and Paul are represented by CAA and Schreck Rose. Marc Platt is set to serve as producer of "Snow White." Platt is also currently working on Disney's "Mary Poppins Returns."
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," the beloved original animated Disney film, was based on the fairytale by the Brothers Grimm. It was actually Disney's first animated feature film and became a huge success, winning an Oscar at the 11th Academy Awards.
"Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" is deemed is one of the most successful animated movies in history. Through the years, the classic has been adapted into modern versions, such as "Mirror Mirror" in 2012 and "Snow White and the Huntsman."
Disney has been having much success in its revival of animated classics. Before the new "Snow White," the studio featured "Maleficent," "Cinderella" and "The Jungle Book" with very good reviews.
The next live-action film to launch is "Beauty and the Beast" in March 2017. The live-action version of "Mulan" will also release in 2018. "The Lion King" and "Aladdin" are also going to have new takes in the near future. More updates and details on "Snow White" and its official launch date are expected soon.
