It is almost 2017 and it looks like smartphone forerunner Huawei has some big plans to start the upcoming year with a big bang. The Chinese tech giant is about to release the Huawei Mate 9, which boasts of impressive specs, and a limited edition of the phone the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design.

New Huawei Mate Models Feature Powerful Specs

The Huawei Mate 9 is built with a wide 5.9 inch display and has an all-out metallic finish; its resolution is equally impressive at a whopping full HD (1920x1080). This upcoming device is powered by an octacore Kirin 960 processor, which is said to be amongst the fastest and most efficient processors ever to hit the market.

Huawei has also said that the Huawei Mate 9 boasts of a very intricate device architecture and software adjustments to keep it running fast and smooth. It runs on the latest Android OS 7.0 Nougat and also comes with Huawei's own user interface, called the Emotion 5.0, where a user can customize better to his preferences.

CNet reports that while other specs are already very impressive, its camera is one of the most distinct selling points of the Huawei Mate 9. The camera lens also bears the Leica brand, which is one of the most revered names in the photography industry.

But what's even better about the Huawei Mate 9 is that it has two camera lens. One lens can shoot only black and white photos, but when the two are used at the same time, they are able to provide picture qualities that are almost at par with most DSLRs in the market today.

Differences Between Huawei Mate 9 & Mate 9 Porsche Design

Gadgets 360 reports that while the Huawei Mate 9 and the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design almost bear identical specifications, there are some notable differences between the two devices. The Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design edition has a higher resolution at QHD (1440x2560) but it has a smaller screen width at 5.5 inches AMOLED display.

The Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design has 6GB of RAM while the Mate 9 only has 4 GB, its internal memory is significantly higher at 256GB built in as compared to 64GB. The Porsche Design also lets go of the rear mounted fingerprint sensor which appears on the Huawei Mate 9 and such appears on the home button, instead.
