The U.S. subsidiary of CJ E&M Game Division said today that Dice Venture, the North American edition of the international social board game Modoo Marble, will began beta testing this upcoming Wednesday.
An online twist on the legendary board game Monopoly, Dice Venture involves players taking turns buying and selling properties while traveling around the world in hopes of becoming a billionaire tycoons. You can win by making another player go bankrupt like in the Parker Brothers classic. Four-player head-to-head and two-on-two matches will be available game modes that will each take around 25 minutes to finish. Dice Venture will allow players to choose from a variety of different characters and dice.
The game will be available through Netmarble.com, a global online gaming portal that host a variety of free massively multiplayer online games including first-person shooter District 187 and action RPG Arcane Saga. Netmarble producer Jun Park says the company is looking to grow its North American prescence with this game.
"The introduction of Dice Venture to North America marks a significant step toward reaching gamers of all types for Netmarble," says Park of the game that five million people play internationally. "Our primary goal is to provide top-quality online games for everybody, and we're happy to take strides to satisfy the growing casual games market."
A subsidiary of the South Korean based CJ E&M Game Division, N2Play Studios is responsible for ten games serviced on Netmarble. CJ E&M Game Division has gained ground in the free-to-play market in the States and internationally. The developer recently linked with Tecmo Koei for the navel based RPG Uncharted Waters Online. Chief Operating Officer of CJ Games Global Jina Song said this about the Western ports of Asian games last year.
"Too many times, publishers from Asian markets import and localize popular titles to the western market but falter at captivating players," said Song. "Our recipe for success is to create and publish games that will appeal to an International audience. Monarch and Hounds were carefully hand selected to do so. Our goal is to expand the local success of CJ E&M Game Division to the global market."
Dice Venture is scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2013 for PC with iOS and Android following shortly.
