Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 Release Date, News & Update: Why Microsoft Needs to Release the New Smartphone; Expected Specs & Features Revealed

The Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 has been one of the most anticipated smartphone releases of the year due to its promise of refreshing (and replacing) the Lumia lineup. However, fans were disappointed when the tech giant seems to be ignoring it. Is the Surface Phone still coming out?

Why Microsoft Needs the Surface Phone

The rumored Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 had always been just that, rumored. While Microsoft is still yet to acknowledge the mere existence of the device, fans still remain hopeful and optimistic. With only bits and pieces being dropped on very rare occasions, it's still undeniable that the Surface Phone is making waves in the tech world.

With Windows Phones currently struggling with market shares against the competition such as Android and Apple devices, what Microsoft needs now is to refresh their existing lineup. The Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 promises this, with the addition of having the chance of offering something new to the table while carrying the Surface branding.

The tech giant might have to settle for last place in the mobile platform war if it does not release the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 just yet. However, maybe the tech giant still has some tricks up its sleeves that will make the upcoming Surface Phone more than what we expect it to be.

Rumored Specs and Features

Plenty of rumors suggest that the Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 will be packing a lot of high-end internals. For starters, the lineup will be coming in three variants. There would then be 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM variants in different tiers. There are also rumors suggesting that the Intel Kaby Lake processors would be powering the devices. If this proves to be true, then the Surface Phone would definitely be performance beasts.

With three tiers come three price points, with the lowest end being the budget option and the highest end being the most premium one. Rumors have it that the display would then be ranging from Quad HD to 4K resolution. The body would then be all glass for a more premium look. Many predict that the phone might be released in 2017, and all we can do now is hope for this to be true. Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 news and updates!
