'The Elder Scrolls 6' Release Date, Rumors, News And Updates: Game On Hold, Developer Waiting For The Right Engine

"The Elder Scrolls" series is one of the most enduring RPG series of all time. The series constantly defies expectations and give gamers hundreds of hours of gameplay and unprecedented value. With the release of "The Elder Scrolls 4: Skyrim Special Edition," and the reveal of the Nintendo Switch with Skyrim playable, talks for another game from the series, fans are getting more anxious. It's been five years since the release of "The Elder Scrolls 4: Skyrim" and fans are already clamoring for the next entry. But according to an interview on Glixel, it looks like fans might have to wait a little bit longer for "The Elder Scrolls 6"

"Elder Scrolls" series creator Todd Howard recently had a talk with Glixel regarding Bethesda's future and upcoming projects. Howard assured fans that Skyrim is definitely not the last game of the series and "The Elder Scrolls 6" will be coming. He added that the series is what made him successful and wouldn't turn back on the series and the fans who made it all possible for him.

With regards to "The Elder Scrolls 6" Todd Howard confirmed that the game is still in development. Although he added that the game is not a "big active project." We can assume that initial development has already begun for the game but development is at a minimal. Bethesda is currently working for Fallout 4 DLC's this year along with two unannounced games which are as big as Skyrim that are confirmed not to be the "The Elder Scrolls 6" This puts "The Elder Scrolls 6" at the last of their priority list and will most likely be released either at the end of the current console generation or at the start of the new one.

Speculations also suggest that Bethesda might be waiting for the right engine to run "The Elder Scrolls 6." One of the criticisms for Fallout 4 is how outdated the graphics are compared to modern games. Reviewers pointed out the Fallout 4 used the previous engine for Fallout 3 and made some few enhancements. The two upcoming games for Bethesda might be used to test and develop a new engine before perfecting it and using it for "The Elder Scrolls 6." "The Elder Scrolls" games are massive and offers a huge map for players to explore. A game of this size will require a good engine that can produce excellent graphics and can handle the "The Elder Scrolls 6" requirements.

Whether this is true or not, Bethesda can take all the time they need to develop "The Elder Scrolls 6" if it means a bigger game than Skyrim with modern graphics. Stay tuned for more updates on "The Elder Scrolls 6"
