Castlevania Lords of Shadows 2: The Return of the Toy Maker [VIDEO]
The Toy Maker was one of the more unique villains in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate, a mystery who's not even seen until the end of the game. His presence is felt throughout, though, as his crazed clockwork creations hound the main character. We thought he was dead but Konami has revealed to us today that he will indeed return in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, in one showstopping boss battle.
As we expected from its Mature rating (and the excellent, gruesome rundown by the ESRB) it's suitably bloody. It all starts with Dracula (yes, the protagonist of Lords of Shadow 2 is the dark lord himself) finding the lifeless body of the Toy Maker and bringing him back. Now if you're wondering why Dracula would bother returning the heart to this clearly untrustworthy individual, it's in order to collect his fragment of the Mirror of Fate. After a little convincing the Toy Maker is about to give over his shard but the blood of the castle takes him over before he can, transforming into a demon and pitting him (and his creations) against Dracula. Check it out at the bottom of the page.
It seems like this might be one of the first big battles of the game, because they're going for a truly epic storyline here. The official line- "Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 acts as a conclusion to the Lords of Shadow story. The new game is set in a modern city tainted by Dracula's influence and within Dracula's castle itself. It sees a tortured Dracula charged with engaging Satan in battle once again. This epic sequel boasts a vast open-world environment, user-controlled camera and a truly enormous challenge as the world's most famous vampire seeks an end to his immortal existence. His story comes to an end in a suitably shocking circumstance."
It's pretty interesting that they would chose to show off the entire boss battle here but it's a great way to show off the gameplay, that's for sure. Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2 will be released on February 25th, 2014 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Check out the list of achievements to have an idea of how many more challenges lie ahead.
