Asus Latest News & Update: Asus Will Release Its ZenFone Video Teaser At CES 2017; New Smartphones Are Coming

Asus will be announcing new devices on January 4, during CES 2017 event. The company today released a teaser video letting us know that at least one of the upcoming devices is a ZenFone smartphone. Earlier this month we found out that Asus will be present at CES 2017. Not only that, but the Taiwanese company has also scheduled an unveiling event under the "Zennovation" banner. It wasn't hard to realize that this will all be about a new smartphones since the Qualcomm Snapdragon logo accompanied Asus on the official invite.

The "ZenFone 3 Zoom" features a dual rear camera that may offer optical zoom in the same manner that Apple's iPhone 7 Plus does. But this won't be a high-end phone, as it's expected to be powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 625 processor. The rest of its features should include a 5.5-inch 1080p display, up to 4 GB of RAM, up to 64 GB of internal memory, and a very large 4,850 mAh battery.

Asus has put out its first video tease, and it's filled with great-sounding words uttered with a British accent. In the teaser, it can be seen the rough outline of a smartphone or two at around the 30-second mark in the video. It shows off a mysterious handset that should enable "incredible exploration without limitations." While Asus doesn't provide more details, this handset could be the "ZenFone 3 Zoom."

The "ZenFone 3 Zoom" unit name is unconfirmed. In any case, this upcoming device seems to be a thinner successor to the original "ZenFone Zoom" which will be released in the US at the beginning of 2017. Asus launched a "Zenfone 4" in 2014, so unless it wants to confuse people even more than usual it will probably have to pick a different name for its 2017 range.
