Riot Games Brings an Update Regarding Vanguard Implementation in League of Legends

Riot Games has officially delayed the implementation of its proprietary anti-cheat software, Vanguard, in League of Legends. This information was disclosed in the changelog for Patch 14.3.

Vanguard Delayed

Before anything, Vanguard is Riot Games' answer to prevent cheaters from ruining the experience for everyone. This is an AI-powered software that works at the kernel level, meaning, it can relay information about the player's PC back to the company.

Despite the initial concerns of spying and possible crypto-mining without the user's consent, Vanguard is actually pretty good at thwarting evildoers. If the software catches even small traces of files linked to cheating programs in one's computer, it will prevent players from running any games developed by Riot.

As of now, Vanguard is fully operational in Valorant but Riot Games is set to release its anti-cheat solution to League of Legends this year.

Having said that, the company is delaying the launch of Vanguard from Patch 14.4 to Patch 14.5. The reason for the delay is that the company wants to ensure that all League of Legends players will have their PCs updated to accommodate the software.

For this reason, starting Patch 14.3, the game will occasionally run a diagnostic check to see if players are able to run Vanguard without a hitch. Alternatively, players can manually run the diagnostic check themselves by launching League of Legends, and then selecting "Check for Compatibility" in the in-game settings menu under General -> Vanguard System Check.

Since Vanguard will be implemented in Patch 14.5, players still have time to address any issues that may prevent Riot's anti-cheat software from running in their systems.
