After a lackluster rework, Riot Games is set to provide some buffs to League of Legends' resident celestial dragon, Aurelion Sol. These buffs will be available in the game's public test environment PBE very soon.

Botched Rework?

Aurelion Sol got reworked not long ago, but fan reception is not that great, considering that most people who play as the said celestial dragon would often just spam Singularity and be done with it.

For those who do not know, Aurelion Sol's passive allows him to buff his abilities up by accruing stacks known as Stardust. Singularity (E) is an ability that enables him to get consistent stacks by sucking enemies into a black hole. This is quite damaging, but what makes it popular is that Aurelion Sol players can kill multiple enemies with a perfectly timed Singularity.

The way Aurelion Sol is currently utilized is that he spams Singularity to gain a large stack of Stardust, making him a lot more terrifying in the late game. However, the problem with this approach is that his early game leaves much to be desired. Thus, Riot Games is set to make some changes.

So, What's Going to Change?

Maxwell "Yelough" Perlman, League of Legends Champion Designer at Riot Games, posted a tweet that the game's resident celestial dragon will be receiving a power shift in the upcoming Patch 14.3, which will be up for download on Monday.

According to Perlman, Aurelion Sol's Breath of Light (Q) is going to receive a couple of noteworthy changes. First, the mana cost required to cast this ability has been reduced by quite a bit. Second, the amount of Stardust this celestial dragon receives by killing enemy Champions with his "Q" has been increased from one to three!

For his "W" ability, aka Astral Flight, its mana cost saw a stark decrease from 80 + 5 per rank down to just 50 + 5 per rank. Its cooldown has been reduced from 22 - 1.5 seconds per rank to just 15 - 1 per rank as well.

Additionally, when Aurelion Sol uses his Breath of Light ability while in Astral Flight, the damage of his "Q" is increased to 18% + 2% per rank (up from 14% + 1.5% per rank).

To somehow deter players from just spamming Singularity to gain Stardust stacks, Riot Games has reduced the number of stacks players can get to just two across the board.

So, why is Riot Games implementing these changes? "The intention of giving ASol more early game agency is to make it so he must use that agency to meaningfully scale," said Perlman.

Perlman also added that the changes will be implemented in a beta update that is available for download on Monday. If these tweaks are good, the majority of League of Legends players can expect them to drop on February 7.
