The event featured many of the things that players can expect to have in the game's Seasons 12, 13, and 14 throughout the year. This would mark the first time that Sea of Thieves gets new weapons, including throwing knives, a double-barreled pistol, as well as a grapple gun.

There are also a variety of new items that will be added to the game throughout the upcoming seasons, such as the Bone Caller, which is an item that players use to summon friendly skeletons to help them in a fight. In terms of pets, a brand new type of animal will become available, owls.

There is also a new type of cannon ammo that will make its way to Sea of Thieves known as scattershot, which can be used to create several small holes in an enemy ship's hull. This type of ammo sacrifices direct firepower to give a greater hit radius, according to WindowsCentral.

The game's Season 13 will also come with the return of the legendary Captain Flameheart along with his terrifying fire-spewing ship in a dangerous world event. Players will be able to take over his vessel and use it but this would make them a natural target for other players.

The preview event comes as the game is celebrating its sixth anniversary on Mar. 20 and marks the largest new content addition since the game launched in 2018. The throwing knife, in particular, is interesting because it can give enemies a quick stab or players can charge it up to release a high damage attack that is especially deadly when used behind an enemy.

Another new tool that will soon become available for players is the Wind Caller, which resembles a shell-horn. When players blow into this, it creates a powerful gust of wind that can be directed at sails to make ships move faster than full billow. It can also be used at flames to quickly put out fires without much issue.

New Content and Features

In a note about the newly released double-barrel pistol, Rare said that the gun can fire two individual shots back to back. In Season 12, the game will have zip lines installed across a "range of islands," including outposts and skeleton forts. These would allow for much quicker traversal whenever players are in a pinch, said GamesRadar.

Players can alternatively walk a literal tightrope or glide along their harpoon's rope to reach other destinations. In this instance, destinations can directly translate to enemy ships, which is important because players can still carry gunpowder barrels.

In Season 13, Rare is adding skeleton camps that appear above recently unearthed temples of the Ancients. Players will have to explore these areas and complete puzzles to uncover the hidden treasures within.

Flameheart, in particular, is seeking Orbs of Secrets as tributes and the more tributes that players collect, the more valuable loot they can find on the Burning Blade. While players can cash out anytime, this forfeits the use of the vessel, according to Eurogamer.
