Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge is a Farming Simulator That is Hopping Onto the Nintendo Switch

A new farming simulator, Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge, that focuses on little croakers is hopping onto the Nintendo Switch later this year.

The game's developer, Humble Reeds, is bringing a frog-centered farming simulator that will allow players to raise an army of frogs. Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge was originally supposed to only come to PC but it was announced to be coming to Nintendo's handheld console at the same time.

Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge boasts beautiful watercolor graphics as well as an adorable little premise, making it irresistible for fans of farming simulator games or people who love frogs in general.

A player's journey to becoming an amphibian adept will start out in Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge similar to any other farming sim, which is by needing a break. The game lets you take control of Cleo, who reconnects with her childhood friend Axel and the two then decide to work together on a project to restore a home for frogs, according to Nintendo Life.

The game will task players with making beds, sofas, baths, and all manners of cozy little furniture and items that will make the frogs' lives more comfortable. Players will also be able to grow wetland crops and create ponds to invite up to 500 frogs to their little sanctuary. However, the game itself is not only about raising the little hoppers.

Players also get a little "Frogdex" where they can document the multiple different species of frogs that they encounter in the game. The game also requires players to make friends, solve various quests, and visit three different biomes to help out the frogs scattered across the land.

The game will help players out by welcoming NPCs as they photograph and breed frogs to increase their reputation, decorate their refuge, and plant native crops. The frogs that players collect can be bred and the game features more than 1,000 different croakers.

Collecting All Frogs

It is up to the player to figure out the secret of how to attract new and adorable frogs to their sanctuary. They can complete their collection by unlocking all of the rare colors of frogs through a special breeding minigame. When new creatures come to the refuge, the in-game camera can be used to take photos and add them to the Frogdex, said Gematsu.

When it comes to restoring the wetland, which is another crucial goal of the game, players can cultivate the area through a process that is known as paludiculture. They can dig ponds to let water roam the land once more and they can transform their harvests into manufactured goods that can then be sold in order to improve their sanctuary even more.

The founder and CEO of Armor Games, Dan McNeely, said that Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge will inspire a greater appreciation for nature as well as its delicate ecosystems among cozy gamers worldwide.

They are hoping that every gamer who plays Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge on the Nintendo Switch will enjoy the relaxing but meaningful experience. He added that it has a wholesome message about building and restoring a nurturing environment for creatures that need it the most, according to Nintendo Everything.
