Released on September 15, 2016, Niche - A Genetics Survival Game is developed by Stray Fawn Studio, who is also credited as the game's publisher along with WhisperGames.

As mentioned, Niche is a turn-based strategy game that has some simulation and roguelike elements. In this game, you can shape your own species of animals that are similar to cats, foxes, bears, and dogs.

Their survival as your ultimate goal. This means making sure they survive against predators, climate change, and sickness. You lose the game if your species go extinct.

Play with Genetics

Needless to say, genetics plays a crucial role in this game. As you play, you will be introduced to the scientific mechanics of genetics (featuring dominant-recessive, co-dominant inheritance, etc) as well as the five pillars of population genetics (genetic drift, genetic flow, mutation, natural selection, sexual selection).

If these sound complicated, don't worry! All knowledge is interwoven with the game-mechanics.

With the breeding system based on real genetics, expect over 100 gene options to help you shape your species. Do take note that there are five biomes in the game, which feature different predators, prey, and faura.
