'Resident Evil 6' Movie Confirmed By Paul W.S. Anderson- 'Resident Evil: Rising' will be 3D

Resident Evil 6 Movie Confirmed By Paul W.S. Anderson- Resident Evil: Rising will be 3D

Despite the fact that you likely don't know anyone who's seen them all or can name even half of the installments, the Resident Evil movie adaptations continues to trickle out. Rumors about the sixth installment of the series (yes, there's already five of them!) have been confirmed by director Paul W. S. Anderson at the recent Beijing International Film Festival.

According to CCTV Anderson revealed that the survival horror series will be coming back, and returning to 3D.

"I think China has an amazing opportunity that 3D is still alive and well here, and people still pay to the cinema and go see it. I think you should really cherish that," Anderson said.

China has become an absolutely massive film market right now, second only to the U.S., so you can expect many more studio films to take this relatively new market into consideration. Case in point- Resident Evil: Rising will once again star Li Bingbing (playing series regular Ada Wong).

"I have to go home tomorrow for 'Rising Resident Evil'. That's what I'm going to do," said Anderson at the Festival. "As you know, Bingbing is in the last movie and she will be there again... After 'Resident Evil' I want to come to China and shoot film again."

Films just don't have to be successful in America for them to profit any more- one need only look at Pacific Rim, which tanked here but was a massive success in China, which is pretty much the only reason there's any consideration being given to a sequel.

As for the Resident Evil games, its own sixth installment was a disappointment from both a critical and sales perspective, yet the series will continue on with Resident Evil 7. Expect to hear more on that soon as Capcom strives to salvage its franchise.
