Super Smash Bros 4 News: Pic Of The Day Reveals New Assist Trophy, The Zelda Character Demon Lord Ghirahim

Super Smash Bros Pic Of The Day Reveals New Assist Trophy, The Zelda Character Demon Lord Ghirahim

The Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS details will keep coming from Nintendo ahead of the staggered release of both versions, even after all the excitement from E3.

Meta Knight Unveiled As Playable Character In Upcoming Super Smash Bros

The title will be out for 3DS on October 3, as Nintendo announced at the gaming conference, and this holiday season on Wii U. A specific release date for the console version will likely be forthcoming as winter approaches, but Nintendo has plenty of time to make that announcement.

Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, including the unveiling of Lady Palutena, Pac-man, the Mii Fighters and an appearance by Mr. Game & Watch, though he has not yet been confirmed as playable. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai will continue to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.

Today's post shows off a new Assist Trophy, another of an item we already saw this week with Nightmare Wizard. This time it's a Legend of Zelda character, as shown in the above image. Here's Sakurai's accompanying description:

"Pic of the day. "No, I'll just beat you within an inch of your life!" Demon Lord Ghirahim makes an appearance in Smash Bros!! He's an Assist Trophy, so he could conceivably back up Link, too."

Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, where we'll hopefully see new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
