Marvel's Agents Of SHIELD Season 2 Debut Trailer Hints At A Darker, More Focused Superhero Adventure On ABC [VIDEO]

Coulson Returns To Pick Up The Pieces In New Agents Of SHIELD Trailer

We are three weeks away from the second season premiere of the popular, and much improved, Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. The fine folks at Marvel have released a new teaser to get people excited.

Marvel Close To Casting Doctor Strange At Last

The teaser is a mix of old footage, highlighting some of the more exciting moments of the first season (such as when Mike, later Deathlok, gets exploded) and a few choice bits of new footage. A bearded Ward looks soulful and remorseful as Skye looks on with despair while Agent Coulson, the newly minted head of S.H.I.E.L.D waxes poetical about fighting the good fight and helping people "whether they know it or not."

The show took a while to find its own voice. As with most things, Captain America was there to save the day and the crossover arcs, which featured the reveal of Hydra within the ranks of the organization, helped buoy the underperforming show to new levels. Whatever kinks the series creators possessed had been worked out by the time of the finale.

Syrio Forel Joins Star Wars Episode VII

The first season ended with Coulson writing cryptic formulas on the wall, obviously in reference to the still mysterious Project TAHITI. Ward was captured, The Clairvoyant was effectively destroyed and we got a final tease about Skye's own lineage with a chilling end scene. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a fun show, of that I am not arguing, but it plays its cards so close to its vest you wonder if the mysteries it set up early are the only questions it will ever answer.

Naturally, I'm watching if only because I love the Inhumans and want to see more Kree.

The second season of Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. debuts on September 23 on ABC for its 22 episode run, which is about 9 episodes too many. Agent Carter, which will follow the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D, will premiere midseason for its initial, much more manageable 13 episode season.
