Moto 360 GoldenEye 007 Watch Face Tells You When Your Battery's Low, Will Get Updated With More Cool Features As APIs Release

Smartwatches Are Already Letting You Become More Like James Bond With This New GoldenEye Watch Face

It's official: Give a man a dev kit, and he'll make some pretty nerdy stuff.

Google Will Update Android Wear Several Times This Year

A new watch face for Motorola's new circular smartwatch, the Moto 360, has been released on Google Play that emulates the design of James Bond's watch in the GoldenEye 007 Nintendo 64 game. Besides the obvious use of telling time via both a digital and analog display, the "Secret Agent Watchface" also keeps track of your watch's battery life with the blue armor gauge on the right.

When the smartwatch goes into sleep mode, the watch face still displays the time, even though it loses many of its cosmetic touches. Users can set the watch face to display either analog or digital time when it's asleep. Other customizations include setting whether the hour hand snaps to each hour on the hour or if it slowly moves between two numbers over the course of an hour.

According to the developer, the official Android Wear API for making watch faces has yet to be released, so this app is mostly just a concept at this point. As Google starts rolling out more official APIs, though, the app will be updated accordingly.

Some features the developer plans to add as Google introduces more developer support for Android Wear include making the red health meter track how many steps the wearer has taken in relation to his daily step goal. There's also a plan to make the watch face show the battery level of the phone that the smartwatch is paired with.

It might not come with any of the gadgets, but walking around with Bond's GoldenEye watch on your wrist will at least get you a couple knowing smiles from the N64 generation.
