Meta Knight Unveiled As Playable Character In Upcoming Super Smash Bros

Several new characters and other details were revealed at E3 as expected, and we got to see the game in action in a live tournament. Even after these major announcements, though, series director Masahiro Sakurai continues to give us comparatively smaller details through the official site in the form of a daily picture update.

Early copies of the 3DS version have been released in Japan, with some Twitch users streaming gameplay to reveal or confirm secret characters. Nintendo will also be livestreaming eight hours of gameplay later today.

As for the pic of the day, it focuses on a portion of Spectator Mode, shown in the image above. Here's Sakurai's description:

"This is the World Status you can see in Spectator mode. The game isn't released yet so the map looks pretty plain now, but I wonder what it'll look like once it's out? Also, this is where you can see all sorts of stats being tallied up. In Group play and Spectator mode, you can see characters you haven't unlocked yet, so watch out if you don't want to be spoiled."

Keep checking back for more Super Smash Bros. news each day, where we'll hopefully see new character reveals or a Wii U release date.
