DOTA 2 Gets Cinematic With The Origin 2 Movie

Think you're good at DOTA 2? You might be thinking in more relative terms after watching this video.

ESPN President Says Video Games Aren't A Sport

The Na`Vi YouTube page released a follow-up to last year's collection of gameplay highlights and impressive replays, dubbed "The Origin." This year's "The Origin 2" is back with a whole new lineup of high-level DOTA 2 gameplay, which should have no problem inspiring new players or at least demonstrating some neat, higher-level tricks for them.

A lot of the movie features players surviving near misses, somehow weaseling their way out of dangerous situations with their health in the single digits. Of course, plenty of skilled offensive gameplay is on display. The movie puts several long-range shots on display where range characters take out enemies from across the map or just the other side of a wall. The movie also includes a handful of devastating attacks where one powerful Hero ends up taking down multiple enemies with a single ability.

Footage for the video was taken from users that submitted their replay videos while the movie was being put together. The featured players use a wide selection of the game's 100+ Heroes, offering the chance to see top-level gameplay from all different classes of Hero.

One of the main draws of the movie that sets it apart from the multitude of game replays out there made possible by the growth of livestreaming is its production value. The replays are all flanked by animation and even a little bit of narrative that tie the whole video together into one cohesive package.

It just happens to also contain high-level MOBA replays.
