Far Cry 4 Weapons Gameplay Trailer Introduces Mortars, Auto-Crossbows And Weaponized Tigers To Kyrat

Ever Seen A Semi-Automatic Crossbow? You Have Now, Thanks To The Far Cry 4 Weapons Trailer

Today, Ubisoft released the new "Weapons of Kyrat" trailer, which gives the player in-depth looks at all of the fun, exceedingly lethal toys that protagonist Ajay will have at his disposal in Far Cry 4.

Assassin's Creed Rogue Details: Shay Dual Wields Blades, Utilizes Eagle Vision To Take Down Assassins

The trailer covers the basic submachine guns and automatic rifles that excel at tearing through advancing waves of enemies with unfortunately slow reaction times. But those guns can become commonplace once you realize that you'll find them in any other first-person shooter. That's where the rest of the arsenal comes in.

The game includes some slightly more ridiculous weapons like the mortar. While packing artillery is to be expected when fighting among an entire company of soldiers, giving the one-man army of Ajay the power to rain flaming death from above onto enemy encampments is more like the over-the-top Far Cry franchise we've come to know. Mortars will likely be limited to certain areas just for the sake of balance, but they'll still be around for the player to load up and fire away.

Also featured in the trailer is the auto-crossbow, which allows for silent assassinations without the hassle of long reload times. In the trailer, the auto-crossbow makes quick work out of several enemies without raising any alarms, making it a powerful and strategic new addition to the game.

Finally, the trailer shows players how to turn the nature of Kyrat into an ally. By luring animals with bait, Ajay is able to get powerful wild animals – say, a hungry tiger – to attack enemies standing in his way. It's not a clean method by any stretch of the imagination, but at least you get to keep your own hands clean.

The Far Cry 4 trailer also introduces us to Longinus, Kyrat's weapons dealer and a perfect example of the kind of insane yet memorable characters that Far Cry traffics in.

Far Cry 4 is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 18.
