Star Citizen First Person Shooter Module Revealed, Adds Yet Another Dimension To $60 Million Crowdfunding Game

The upcoming crowdfunding smash hit Star Citizen is known for its space flight simulation--featuring highly detailed ships and graphics--but did you know there's a first person shooter component too?

The game's developers showed off the first person module at a PAX Australia event, detailing the zero gravity fights and accurate guns, and explained what's still to come. You can watch footage of the module in the video below. The demo is more than nine minutes, and offers both gameplay clips and explanation from studio head Chris Roberts.

Destructible environments and better animations are on the way, but Roberts explained that the actions you see in third person are the same carried out in the first person mode. It all looks great visually, which shouldn't surprise anyone who has seen the rest of the game in action.

Star Citizen has gathered more than $60 million from the community, becoming the highest-earning crowdfunding project ever at around the $55 million mark. The game is ambitious and unique, offering a variety of play styles, game modes, and great-looking graphics and space flight.
