Assassin's Creed Unity Pulled From Steam Along With Far Cry 4 And The Crew, Ubisoft Provides Little Explanation

Ubisoft has pulled several of its upcoming titles from the Steam store, signaling an apparent shift of future releases to the publisher's uPlay service.

Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry 4, and The Crew are no longer listed with the publisher's Steam offerings, as reported by PCGamesN earlier today. The publication spoke to Ubisoft when the titles were missing from just the U.K. stores, but the games now seem to have been pulled globally as well.

"We've been in discussions with Valve about Assassin's Creed Unity but for the time being the game is not available via Steam in the U.K.," Ubisoft told PCGamesN.

"In the meantime, U.K. customers wishing to purchase the game digitally can do so by visiting the uPlay store, our retail partners or other digital distributors."

Those other retailers include the usual brick and mortar stores and other services such as Green Man Gaming and Amazon. Ubisoft responded only to the U.K.'s situation since that was the region in question at the time, but no meaningful explanation was provided regardless. Assassin's Creed 3 and Far Cry 3 did not launch on Steam in the past, and it took some time for Valve and Ubisoft to get the titles on the store. It may just take time for Ubisoft to move the titles to Steam rather than a definitive initiative from now on, taking the initial rush of sales on its own platform and other services before opening it up to Steam.
