PSN Maintenance Scheduled For Monday November 17, Limited Downtime Should Improve Network Stability

Sony has announced several hours of limited PSN downtime for this Monday, November 17, as it prepares to perform maintenance on the system.

The service will take place from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern (9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pacific), during which time some aspects of PSN will be unavailable. Sony says it's deploying a "series of back-end improvements" to the network during this period.

So what will and won't work during those hours on Monday? If you've logged in any time since November 13 before the maintenance, you will still be able to play games and use apps such as Netflix. What you will not be able to access are the PlayStation Store, PS Home, and any Account Management settings.

GTA V Online Heists Are Coming 'Very Soon'

PSN has had its share of issues recently, made worse by the troublesome PS4 2.00 system update (since patched twice to fix the issues). With big game releases continuing this month, traffic and stress on the network is likely to increase-most console owners probably won't complain about a few hours of limited downtime that can prevent some future troubles. Sony isn't clear what changes exactly are being implemented, but back-end improvements should lead to a more stable network.
