Last Year was tailor made for horror fans who sympathize more with the killers than the victims, and the game needs your help.

The asymmetrical survival horror game, which puts five student players again one killer player, is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. The game is about halfway through its campaign and has made about half of its goal, but there's still more to be done!
Last Year takes all your favorite slasher movie cliches, inspired from the classic 80s films like Friday the 13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street, and mashes them into a tense survival game where human players contend against a human opponent in a desperate attempt to last the night. The game is being developed by James Matthew Wearing, a developer who has worked sound design on several titles like Crysis, Hitman GO and Far Cry 3. He has nine years of experience in the industry, and a lifetime of horror movie fandom to work with, too.

Players can choose amongst five stereotypical teenage characters, such as the Popular Girl, Nerd or Jock. Each of the five kids has a unique ability; one can fix broken equipment, while another is good at healing wounded comrades and others can deal out some damage if need be. The objective for the teenagers is simple: escape one of the two maps (a Camp Crystal Lake-esque wood scenario or the High School map). The object for the killer is even simpler: kill all the kids.
To accomplish this, the Killer has some uniquely quasi-supernatural moves in his arsenal. The timeless slashers of old seemed to move with an inhuman speed, appearing at random whenever the moment suited him. Last Year copies this 'jump scare' effect with the Predator mode, in which the Killer - as long as he is unseen by the survivors - can turn invisible and move towards an empty room, all the better to jump out and slaughter the brats.
Killers can come equipped with five different types of weapons, ranging from the slow and devastating chainsaw to the quick and easy machete. For every weapon, a new strategy should be deployed.
It is also possible for the teenagers to turn the tables and kill the menace that is stalking them, but you had better be well coordinated. Survival is first and foremost, not attack.
If successful, Last Year will be out in two years, in November 2016. And yes, there will be Oculus Rift support, which will make it amazing.
