The Walking Dead Star Michael Rooker Stars in Drunk Driving PSA The Driving Dead [VIDEO]

The Driving Dead Brings Merle Back To The Apocalypse

Merle stole all of our hearts in The Walking Dead. He started out as a hateful, racist redneck and by the time he met his (SPOILERS) end at the hands of the Governor, he had managed to worm his way into our hearts. Under that hard, pill popping exterior, there was a heart just as sweet as Daryl's. Even though he's dead he's not gone, and he shows up in the The Driving Dead, a surprisingly good series of PSAs on drunk driving.

Usually PSAs wouldn't be something that we shared with our readers. But PSAs don't usually take place during a zombie apocalypse and star our favorite one handed dead brother. The Driving Dead was created in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Transportation in order to clue young viewers into the horror of unsafe driving practices according to i09.

Of course, zombie movie veterans already know. Rule number four is "Wear seat belts".

The webisodes feature a narrating Michael Rooker (Merle) recounting his time as a young man in the end times. They're all the moody action we have come to know and love from The Walking Dead mixed with a healthy and sort of awkward dose of safe driving information.

The PSA part of the clips come at the end and honestly are pretty easy to overlook between snipers and zombies. Shot to look like a cross between the end of the world and a war zone, this is the most brutal PSA ever made. You can watch the first two episodes below to help you miss Team Rick a little bit less.
