There has been another addition to The Walking Dead spinoff codenamed Cobalt. They've added their main female lead, rounding out the major cast. We've also got some details regarding the time and setting of the new spinoff.

Kim Dickens, known for her role in Gone Girl, will be taking up the role of the main female lead, a guidance counselor. She is also the mother of the two children previously announced who will be played by Frank Dillane and Alycia Dubnam as reported by Deadline.

It will be taking place in the same apocalypse that Rick and the crew have found themselves in. However, it is in a vastly different location, California as it were. More importantly it takes place before the time we see Rick wake up from his coma vacation.

In the new show, we will see what happened during the beginning of the outbreak, how it was handled and how it spread so quickly. They will also be revealing more information about how the virus works. From interviews with creator Robert Kirkman we know that it is not spread through sexual content. Or eating people. So there's that.

The new series will likely premiere during the fall AMC lineup for 2015.
