This Week's Nintendo eShop Update: After A Long Wait, Majora's Mask 3D, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate And The New Nintendo 3DS Are Released

You and I have both been waiting for this all week long. It's the Nintendo eShop and Virtual Console update and my oh my, do we have a great one for you today.

At This Rate, You'll Be A Funko Pop! Figure At Some Point In Your Life

First things first: you could play a lot of these new games on your boring old 3DS XL system, and that's totally cool. Or, you could try and pick up the New Nintendo 3DS system, which despite its terrible name (so much confusion), is looking like one heck of a piece of hardware. The New 3DS adds a C-stick to the right side of the system, allowing for better movement and control, head tracking for a better (less-headachey) 3D experience and Amiibo compatibility.

So what if transferring your data from your old 3DS may require an advanced degree? Onto the games!

The big release is, hands down, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D. The N64 classic has been remastered and reconfigured for use on the Nintendo 3DS - and the New Nintendo 3DS. Guide Young Link through the eternally doomed land of Termina, where you have only three days to save the world before the moon falls from the sky and destroys everything. One of the great games of history, now available to a whole new generation. Available tomorrow, February 13.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate - our editor has been obsessed with this game and insists we all immediately download it when it hits shelves tomorrow. Can't say we blame him. "Embark on an epic journey, traveling across a vast world hunting larger than life beasts as you search for the source of a mysterious virus. Travel with a caravan of fellow hunters and merchants as you make your way across multiple locales, each with its own unique look and feel in the largest Monster Hunter ever." It's a best seller already in Japan, let's make it one over here. Available tomorrow, February 13.

With the release of both Majora's Mask and Monster Hunter 4, there are new themes available in the 3DS eShop: NES: Sword-Swinging Link; The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask: Dire Moon The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask: Gold Edition and the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate: Gore Magala & Seregios

ACE Combat Assault Horizon Legacy takes the modern dogfighting sim into 3D. It is precisely what the series needs. $39.99 for the Nintendo 3DS.

The Wii U Virtual Console is getting the first entry into the legendary RPG series BREATH OF FIRE, the 1993 SNES title that puts you in control of Ryu, a shapeshifting adventurer who has to save the world. Sure, it's not a sequel (the last entry came out in 2002) but it might get this generation interested in these forgotten but well made gems. $7.99

The week's major 3DS Virtual Console release is the 1986 Sega classic Fantasy Zone, a colorful, super fun sidescrolling 'shmup that I could not stop playing. Guide living ship Opa Opa through the titular Fantasy Zone, taking down the mysterious and dangerous creatures that have invaded. Additional features include: adjustable difficulty settings, the ability to save your game for later review, inclusion of both the Japanese and Overseas versions of the original game and a Stage Select feature that allows players to save and resume progress mid-game. $5.99 for the Nintendo 3DS.

There is still time to save up to 75% on select Ubisoft titles like Rayman, Rabbids, Assassin's Creed, Child of Light are more. The sale ends February 16.

Additionally, from tomorrow February 13 until Sunday, February 15, players from across North America can participate in the National Streetpass Weekend: Valentine's Edition. "3DS owners can get up to six StreetPass tags from other users from more than 29,000 Nintendo Zone hotspots across the U.S. and Canada." Also out this week:

Blek - Wii U - the award winning 'imagination puzzler' game, in which your creations come to life is now available for $5.99.
Pong Pong Candy - 3DS - another match like game, only instead of destroying lines, you're building them. $1.20
Paparazzi - 3DS - sadly, not a video game tie-in of the legendarily bad movie of the same name. Instead, "Celebrity and paparazzi go head-to-head in this 2-player action/party game. The paparazzi must snap quick pictures of the celebrity, while the celebrity tries to escape to the limo with their dignity." Six levels for $4.99 does sound a bit steep, though. Available February 17.

Until next week. Good luck in Termina out there, adventurers!
