Now you no longer have to spend any time outside of WoW unless you want to (and let's face it, you don't). The Twitter chat will allow players to link screenshots, Achievements, notable loot drops and undoubtedly, sick burns, great kills and 'stupid noob tricks', all for the whole world to see.

It used to be you could hide your secret shame from the outside world, now it's there for every jerk with a Twitter handle to exploit. Blizzard notes that Twitter will never be necessary for in-game activities and that there will be no "in-game Twitter feed" cluttering up your already cluttered UI.

If proven successful, Blizzard will integrate different social media platforms for the game. One wonders if additional games, such as Diablo, Starcraft II and Hearthstone will gain the functionality at a later date. I have a ton of awesome Diablo gear that I need to show off to the world.

"Tweets from within World of Warcraft are only ever initiated by you, and we will never automatically send out Tweets on your behalf-we've disabled Addons from sending them too. Our goal is to make it easier for you to Tweet while playing World of Warcraft, and more convenient to share fun moments with friends."

The company released a new short video showing the incredibly easy process of getting your Twitter account linked to your World of Warcraft account. Click share, hit Twitter, enter your name and voila, you can spam your 82 followers with links to all the stuff you're doing in the virtual world. But hey, maybe they like that sort of stuff.

Watch it below. Patch 6.1 is currently available via the Public Test Realm.
