Okay, so it's more like the day after Christmas when you wake up and realize that things aren't as perfect. The new expansion, Dawn of Champions, is currently only coming to the game's analog edition. The game hits shelves on April 15, and you can pre-order your copy here.

Dawn of Champions includes 193 new cards, making it a full and complete set that can be combined with older sets or played on its own. It is a whole new world after the events of the last expansion, Realms Unraveled. Where many separate worlds existed, now only New Vigil remains and a host of new monsters and heroes have emerged.

The major new mechanic to Dawn of Champions are the titular Champions, powerful avatars who are similar to Magic: The Gathering's Planeswalker cards. They are separate characters your player commands who can be built up with the new Reputation tokens, acquiring new abilities over the course of the game. There are currently four heroes, one for each faction - Dhartha (Englightened), Nairi (Lifebound), Sadranis (Void), and Kor (Mechana).

Dawn of Champions comes with a wealth of new Multifaction cards, many with the new Rally mechanic which "allows players a chance to acquire or defeat additional Heroes and Monsters of the same faction, bolstering their ranks as long as they remain loyal to their faction's cause."

We've reached out to Stone Blade Entertainment for information the digital release for Dawn of Champions. Realms Unraveled was released nearly simultaneously, so we hope that there will be a short turnaround from the release of the card version and the release of the digital.
