The Creative Assembly has just opened up a whole new world to Total War: Attila players, releasing the game's Assembly Kit on Steam.

This allows access to the game's editor, handing players the tools to create content and mods of their own. This includes just about everything about map creation in the game, allowing players to craft their own cities and landscapes filled with aesthetic and functional objects.

The video below walks you through the Assembly Kit's capabilities, which includes several distinct sections of the editor. They let you individually change the game's database, process terrain and textures, and add models and aesthetic objects to the maps. The video will give you a brief overview of each section's features, and tell you had to add mods to the game via the Steam Workshop (the same, easy method as for other games).

The kit can be found for free in everyone's Steam library. To access the Assembly Kit, hover over Steam's Library tab, and go to tools on the drop-down menu. The "Total War: Attila Assembly Kit BETA" should be listed there, and you can double click to begin downloading. Make sure to install the kit to the same hard drive that holds Total War: Attila.

To get the Terrain Raw Data pack, right-click the Total War: Attila Assembly Kit BETA and select "properties". Click the "DLC" tab and select "Terrain Raw Data" to begin downloading. Says The Creative Assembly, "The Terrain Raw Data will expand to near 60GB on your HDD, so only download it if you feel you need it. It will be needed to use Terry and to use TEd fully."
