'NHL 16' Features Announced: EASHL & Other Cut Modes Will Return This Year, Releasing On PS4 & Xbox One Only

'NHL 16' Is Bringing Back Cut Features This Year Including EASHL, Will Release On PS4 & Xbox One Only

EA Sports has announced the feature set for NHL 16, which will only release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The end of annual releases on last generation consoles is coming to an end, with a separate NHL Legacy Edition planned for Xbox 360 and PS3. For NHL 16, though, modes that were left out of last year's iteration much to irritation of fans and critics have made it back into the game.

EASHL is making a triumphant return, a popular team mode that allows you and friends to lock to unique pro players and compete online against other user-controlled teams. It was one of the full modes excluded from NHL 15, and is a fan favorite among the more dedicated player base. Season mode is also back, allowing you to control a team through a regular season and playoffs in any one of the 10 leagues.

Battlefield 4 Spring Patch Includes New Guns, Weapon Balancing, Gun Master Mode & More

It wasn't just full modes that were cut last year, though, but a slew of features within existing modes. Some were puzzling, such as the inability to sim to your next shift in Be A Pro, or do a Fantasy Draft in Be A GM. These features are back this time around, with Be A GM also boasting a new Player Morale system and NHL/AHL integration, and AHL/CHL integration in Be A Pro. Be A Pro also has a brand new "player progression" system.

Oher features in this year's version include couch online co-op, 6v6 online team play, single player HUT seasons, further improved arenas and commentary, more authentic superstars, and (crucially) playoff beards. EA is hosting a Q&A on its website, where you can ask questions to the developers and see answers to other fans--plenty of additional details are within those posts.
