Mortal Kombat XL Available For PS4 And Xbox One, No Version For PC

NetherRealm, the creator behind the original Mortal Kombat, has announced the next addition to the brutal fighting game series, Mortal Kombat XL. The game is an updated version of last year's fan-favourite Mortal Kombat X, which contains all of its downloadable content such as new characters, move sets and character skins.

Mortal Kombat XL is a partnership between Warner Bros. and NetherRealm Studios and is tagged as the "ultimate Mortal Kombat X experience." It has all the previous DLCs from the Kombat Pack and all the content included in Kombat Pack 2.

However, the sad part is that the game's announcement trailer mentioned that it would only be available on PS4 and Xbox One. The news surprised us a bit since this is pretty much the first time that recent Mortal Kombat games snubbed the PC. It seemed weird considering that Mortal Kombat X made it on PCs the same time it did on consoles in 2015.

A representative from NetherRealm took the time to participate in the popular Mortal Kombat forum, TestYourMight.com, to confirm that indeed Mortal Kombat XL would not be available to PC gamers. Community Specialist Tyler Landsdown affirmed this as well, stating that only two consoles will support the game.

It was also in the forums that fans realised that the game sold nearly half a million units on Steam. The data was revealed on Steam Spy, a third-party service that tracks Steam sales. Almost 500,000 units were already sold at launch. The lack of a PC port shouldn't be really that surprising, though. Warner Bros isn't really famous for its PC ports. Look at the bright side; it's always better to play fighting games on PS4 and Xbox One, anyway. It just feels awesome to mash buttons on a controller.

We don't have information on how much Mortal Kombat XL would cost. But it will be available from March 1 onwards.
